We practice some forms of Martial Arts, granted, but what exactly is Haitian Martial Arts. We, as far as I know, haven't created anything, unlike the Brazilians who developed a style out of Asian influences and practical fighting philosophies. We haven't come up with anything and I disagree that it is a part of our culture. How so? Less than 1% of Haitians practice some form of fighting style-including boxing- and none of these styles have any local influences. Nothing from the swagger to the dancing. Nothing haitian at all. We are marginal at best at the martial arts, and maybe if we come up with a unique Haitian martial arts system will we develop a cultural bond to the style, but until then, we will be just bad carbon copies-and we know how outdated these are- of the originals.
