A Michelin three-star chef from Manhattan and a pair of Iron Chefs joined a hometown talent in the small kitchen at Miami Beach's Tap Tap restaurant Wednesday night to cook for Haiti.
York's Daniel Boulud said he was honored to participate in the sold-out benefit for Partners in Health on the eve of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival.
``If it was for publicity I would have said, `no' but since it's for agood cause I agreed,'' Boulud said.
He bustled to prepare his food along with Iron Chefs Masaharu Morimoto and Jose Garces and Kris Wessel of Miami's Red Light while the 120 guests sipped drinks prepared by another Miamian, Food Network host Ingrid Hoffmann.
On the menu: Boulud's short ribs braised with red wine, Morimoto's yellowtail pastrami with panzanella (bread salad), Wessel's white shrimp and stuffed chayote and Garces' coconut tapioca with passion fruit.
Haitian music by Manno Charlemagne added to the ambience of the evening, organized by festival founder and director Lee Brian Schrager.
``Nobody knows what will happen in life,'' Morimoto said. ``Something couldhappen in Japan or anywhere and we should all be grateful.''
