I am not sure at what point this happened, but somewhere along the way people lost all manners when it comes to food. It doesn't matter the setting, it seems that some people just do not know
proper decorum when it comes to eating in a public space. Growing up, I remember my mom would tell me, don't clean your plate all the way, that's not appropriate. Don't bring food back from parties and a slew of other do's and don'ts. While some of them were a bit extreme, however, most of the rules were reasonable.
Appetizers/Cocktail Reception: What it means
If something is labeled as a cocktail reception it is simply a gathering where food is part of the ambiance- almost serving as a backdrop. Cocktail receptions with small plates and not much seating are usually meant to foster an interactive and fun environment. They are created as a way for people to network and socialize. Food is almost part of the decoration, it is not your purpose for being there. Thus, it is important to understand that you may still leave the event hungry. It's ok to get seconds and thirds, but do space it out so other people can get a chance to "taste" as well.
DON'T PILE UP YOUR PLATE
Piling your plate at the buffet line looks tacky. If a server provides you with one or two pieces of something, it is best to avoid asking for additional pieces, unless you have a restricted diet and are
