HB- of all the activities that you are involved with, which one are you more passionate about?

NF
- That’s an impossible question to answer. I am a Sagittarius; hence I am driven by the newness of things. Everything I touch, I get super excited and passionate about. This has its downside because I tend to lose interest relatively quickly. Thus each time I have a new catering job, I’m excited because it’s different than the last. Till this day, my most exciting catering job was catering a 1000 people sit down dinner for Dr. Mehmet Oz of the Oprah show. However, each smaller job that has followed after that still excites me because they are different.

Whenever I am negotiating with a promoter who wants to book Emeline Michel for an event, my boil gets all sort of excited. I love the art of negotiating.

Whenever I receive a funding or win a grant for Young Culinary Masters, Inc (a non-profit organization educating youth that I founded in 2007), I get super happy.

If I am fundraising or organizing an event, and I get digicel, or voila to sponsor, I’m as passionate about that as I probably would be ONCE I win the Nobel Prize.

All this to day, All of it makes me HOT! Lol

HB- Let’s start with your catering service, when did you start it and how is it going?

NF
- I started catering purely accidently. I was a junior in college, and my friends loved my food and would ask me to cater campus events. Eventually professors and staff would be me to cater things for them, on and off campus. So that’s how my base grew. I was a political science major. So there were no catering plans initially. Even after graduating college, I worked as a project manager for Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (who was in the City Council at the time).  But after 8 months, I knew I was not made for that world. It was fun. But I wanted to pursue my own thing. Best decision I ever made.
