Grammy Award winner and Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean is set to announce his candidacy for president of Haiti in the coming days. It has been rumored for awhile, but as the President of Haiti Rene Preval has
set up the November 28th date for the upcoming election in Haiti and as the August 7th deadline is approaching for all aspiring candidate to register, every moves that Mr. Jean has taken has signal that he will enter the race.
Last Thursday, he summoned a team of legal experts, political figures and elected officials to New York to discuss his legal qualification and the chances of him winning the upcoming election. Among the guests were veteran Haitian politic guru, former judge and ex-Minister of Justice under the exiled President, Jean Bertrand Aristide, and Mr. Calixe Delarour. Speaking to HaitianBeatz.com, Mr. Delatour seems very confident that Mr. Jean can run a winnable campaign and one of the elected official from the delegation was even bolder by stating: “the people of Haiti needs some new blood and an outsider to help rebuild the country, the aftermath of Jan. 12 devastating earthquake, clearly demonstrate that, because the outside world came to the rescue of Haiti, we might as well let them finish the job”.
