Guyodo famous artist discovery of Haiti, this week… from the 10th to 12th of September will be competing at the Festival of Liège in Belgium; one of the biggest competition of its kinds (metal
carving scruptures). In that event, he would face the biggest names in this trade. On this occasion, we met him at his studio and we take pleasure in presenting him to you and to share his achievements.
Guyodo is the nickname of Frantz Jacques, born at Grand Rue in December 1973. This lover of art, surrounded by his nine brothers and sisters, has had its beginnings to the job of sanding tried at “Marche en Fer”, when his father died. Engaged in this activity to support his family, passionate about football, he was recruited in the first division in the team Aigle Noir of Bel-Air. His mother did not want the only source of income her family has to follow that career, she forced him to change his mind.
Forcing him to get a job at a factory. Hence, under the influence of Mario Jean Baptiste, he became a new found artist. The room he shares with his faithful companion Guyod, a cat is a real museum. Moreover, the artist produces highly original jewelry worn with cutlery.

For Carnival 2005, while the country was in political crisis he created at the Ministry of Culture and Communication a superb piece called "klere Chimen pou Ayiti”. To commemorate the two hundred anniversary of the abolition of slavery in 2006, the International Slavery Museum Liverpool invites him to participate in creating a piece to commemorate the event. At the side of the famous collector Celeur, they make a sculpture called "Freedom." The latter has been shown in several European cities. Since, he travels around the world: Paris, London, Chicago, California, Pittsburgh, Geneva, Edinburgh, validly representing Haiti.
