Under the Duvalier regime, Roul Guillaume was obligated to leave his country. He went to live in New York City and returned to Haiti following the exile of the Duvalier. After returning from exile, Raoul Guillaume attempted to bring some of the old school of Haitian musicians together. He recruited Webert Sicot and some other famous Haitian musicians. The project did not materialize and finally, Roul Guillaume retired from music and is living a quiet life now.
